Our home base of operations is on a little known planet in the Local Interstellar Cloud, Local Bubble within the Orion-Cygnus Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, appoximately 27,000 light years (±1000 ly) from the Galactic Center.

We have a brick-and-mortar store located in the village of Mendocino within the state of California, which is one of 50 states, or constituent political entities, that comprise the federal republic of the United States of America, one of over two hundred such soverign states on the planet Earth.

From our store in Mendocino we have breathtaking views of the coastal shore of the Pacific Ocean, which provides a unequalled view for customers who may be looking to test any of our wide variety of birding and hunting optics – from binoculars and spotting scopes to telescopes and more!

Opened in 1988 by owners James Blackstock and Marilyn Rose, Out of This World has been specializing in quality optics for years – with the largest selection of binoculars and scopes in Central and Northern California – in addition to education toys, games, puzzles, science kits, electronic sets and more! Out of This World celebrated our 25th Anniversary in 2013 – and we’re still going strong!

For years we operated online under the moniker discountBinoculars.com, but in 2014 finally consolidated our online store under the “Out of This World” brand. We remain the leading optics retailer in Central and Northern California with a knowledgable staff that provides years of hands on experience in the world of optics.

All orders placed via our web store are processed and shipped from our brick-and-mortar store in Mendocino. We check the quality of all optics before we ship them and we pack each order with care.
